(very) young designers
these two girls, caroline hedaya and donna baxter, ages 21 and 22. look at them--they've got their own collection already. so young!

i feel bad about myself. i give myself two years to do something amazing.
long post of randomness
my favorite trend right now is the big chunky scarf wrapped around the neck several times. this is not only convenient to combat the brutal new england weather, but to add instant style to what i call "the michelin man" layered winter look. the michelin man look is when you decide to forgo looks for practicality, and end up wearing the long black puffy down coat that looks like everyone else's long black puffy down coat. mine has a little oomph, though, because the arms are too big for me, and i look like i've been either pumping major iron or just have fat rolls on my arms. anyway, chunky knit scarves are completely lovely to look at, and keeps your neck and face warm.

i know it's a bit early to be thinking about summer clothes but these sundresses at intermix caught my eye:

imitation denim babydoll dress. $170. i'm seeing this with red cotton mary jane flats...

casual knits nudge my heart. love striped jersey tank dress. $188.

zimmerman pintuck floral dress. $340.
some items on my wishlist:

talla free bird chiffon tunic. on sale for $42. i think tunics are flattering on most body types, and this one is a lot of cute and a lot less hippie.

grey ant sweetheart blouse, but in black. $79.

grey ant highwaist jeans. $209. some might say that high-waisted jeans bring to mind "old lady," but i'm really tired of seeing buttcracks and muffin tops. i'm waiting for a higher rise to come back. chloe made an attempt as seen in the following photo, but i don't think it ever caught on. i have a pair that are very similar; i got them in a manhattan thrift store for $12! but i want another pair in a darker rinse.

vintage high-waisted levi's on charlotte gainsbourg. actually, i love the whole outfit.
when it comes to jewelry i like to keep it pretty simple.
i've been lusting after this for months:

the white one. alisha alderman cherry blossoms necklace. $100

early jewelry long bone necklace. $80.

early jewelry charm necklace. $50.
and lastly, shoes!
who knew banana republic made cute shoes?

'dacey' linen peep-toe linen ballet flat. $78.
from office shoes (all prices are in pounds):

adriana canvas 2 part blue/white stripe. 39.99

suzie t-bar pump silver leather. 54.99

amy low pointy t-bar black patent. 49.99
and from anthropologie, as usual:

big tickle flats. $288.

aperture flats. $118.

tintype flats. $248.
to think, just one year ago i thought anthropologie was an "old lady" store. i was so wrong...
where are all the asian clothes at?
i love the funky styles that come out of tokyo and hong kong, and i figure other people must too, so i was wondering, how come it seems like there are no stores in the U.S. that offer clothes from asia? actually, i take that back, there is a store with imported asian clothes down the street from my apartment, but i'm talking about really cute styles you can't get in the states...
i entertained the idea of importing from hong kong and selling stuff on a web site. being able to offer unique stuff is so inspiring. too bad i don't speak chinese, and couldn't get myself a hong kong dealer...
anyway, thanks to hoping for happy accidents. i came across this cute brooklyn-based shop that sells clothes from korea:
the ott shop
it has really adorable items! i'm thinking about the sky blue polka dot dress, and the antique sweater coat...
this is how boys should dress
PCG has to have...
this jacket. I've been looking for the perfect short, boxy jacket forever.

old news, but...
this lady is chic as hell. Phoebe Philo's last runway show for Chloe.

Such a simple outfit, but it drips with cool. I adore the preppy belt. Look for similar styles in the newest additions to Pork Chop Girl. Coming soon!
Sanity returns...
Ok, so the jeans are getting returned. They fit alright, I just don't think tight clothes suit me too well. I totally give up. I guess trousers, it is. +$760.00 for me!On another note, here are some adorable spring dresses from French Connection, one of my favorite chain stores:
The French do it again...
I am in love with EVERYTHING French label A.P.C. came up with for Summer 06. The last time I went to the site, February 2nd, it said that the summer line would be available, what do you know, February 2nd. Except it wasn't. I decide to check in today and what do you know, almost everything I want is sold out already.

The bubble skirt, the overalls, the denim dress...it's all really lovely.

a moment of insanity
www.revolveclothing.com offers free shipping and free returns. so last night, at about one in the morning, i ordered four pairs of jeans which totaled to $760.00
!!!!!!
before i pressed the 'order' button, i yelled for one of my roommates, nick, to come talk me out of it. he said, "no way, don't do it!" but i didn't listen (i never do), and so ended up ordering $760.00 worth of jeans. surprisingly enough, i actually have the money to cover this brief bout of insanity, although i was planning on going on a mini-vacation one of these weekends. one roundtrip plane ticket to chicago or toronto costs $199, the same price as one pair of jeans.
the damage: two pairs of earnest sewns and two of paper denim & cloth. those are kind of hard to find in boston so if i could, i'd try them on in person. i think those are the only two brands that will fit my hard-to fit body just right. i have a smallish waist and rounded hips so those jeans that are straight cut in the hips (which are like, most jeans) won't work on me at all. besides that, i only have one pair of jeans (levi's premiums from 4 years ago), and they are totally worn out, a hole on the butt pocket, stretched out, and chewed up at the bottoms. i need one pair of jeans. ones i'll actually hem this time. i've been looking for the perfect jeans for over a year now.
hopefully, one of those will fit me perfectly and i won't be one of those people who orders all this stuff and then returns all of it.
